Enugu Diocese is 40yrs this year 2009 and has from creation been a peculiar Diocese. Her peculiarity has made her the first among equals, in the sense that she focuses on Education, Evangelism and Health. These three cardinal points which were the watchword of the early missionaries have been vigorously pursued and maintained in the last eleven years of translation of the Rt. Rev. Dr. E. O. Chukwuma, OON from Bauchi to Enugu.
The Diocese has established many mission schools such as the Good Shepherd Seminary School, the Cathedral Nursery/Pry School, Bethel Nur/Pry School, Bethel Convent Sec. School, Emmanuel Nur/Pry School, Emmanuel Sec. School, Bishop Otubelu Nur/Pry School, St Barth’s Nur/Pry School, St. Peter’s Nur/Pry School e.t.c.
Evangelism is our prime concern. The pragmatic evangelism embarked on in this Diocese has led to the creation of Dioceses such as Oji River Diocese, Awgu-Aninri Diocese, Nike Diocese & Enugu North Diocese from the present Enugu Diocese. A lot of churches have been planted in the hinter land to boost the spiritual life of the people. To consolidate the present Enugu Diocese, the Bishop has embarked on satellite churches.
A healthy nation is a wealthy nation likewise a healthy Diocese. It takes a visionary leader to take issues of health to heart, no wonder our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. E. O. Chukwuma, OON caught the vision of establishing a Specialist Hospital. Although Jubilee Maternity Hospital Asata has been in existence but it does not serve the bigger house. The Good Shepherd Specialist Hospital was established by the Rt. Rev. Dr. E. O. Chukwuma, OON. The Hospital is one of the best Hospitals in town and her services are available for you. Enugu diocese is a hospitable Diocese that supports the widows, less privileged and the destitute. Every year the bishop share bags of rice and meat to the widows and less privileged.
